  • Hale and Field are paired schools (one school, two campuses): Hale is comprised of kindergarten through fourth grade. Field houses our fifth through eighth grade classes.
  • Classroom teachers and specialist teachers deliver instruction
  • Ex-Halers (retired Hale teachers) provide reading support to our fourth grade students. 
  • Art Adventure, art projects/displays and Art Institute field trips enrich educational experiences
  • October Reading Challenge, Read-a-thon and the Scholastic Book Fair encourage a strong focus on literacy
  • Fall school carnival, spring Science Fair and Plant Sale are Hale School and community events
  • Culture Night is the cornerstone to Hale's multicultural activities which is sponsored by the Hale W.E. (Welcoming Equity) Committee
  • Strong emphasis on vocal and instrumental music
  • Gymnasium with climbing wall, art room, playground, terraced outdoor learning sites and Peace Garden
  • Active PTA, Site Council and Hale/Field Foundation ensure the community's commitment to excellence
  • Reading Lab, Accelerated Reader, Read Naturally programs provide academic support for sudents.
  • Teachers participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and in professional development opportunities
  • First In Math, is a computerized math program for third grade.
  • Each year, outstanding fourth-grade students are recognized with the Mary Jackson Ellis Award, which honors Minneapolis' and Minnesota's first African-American elementary teacher

EXTENDED-DAY ACTIVITIES: Minneapolis Kids child care; Community education classes; tutoring in reading and math; GISE/GEMS program; Spanish and French.  After school band/strings offered to interested fourth-graders.
