PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Reduced class sizes for kindergarten through fifth grade

  • Monthly Family Fun Nights support families with a family dinner, parent workshops and fun student activities

  • Andersen Family Resource Center provides dental, mental health and support services for families
  • We work with volunteers and volunteer organizations to provide one-to-one and small-group academic support to our students
  • Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) classes are provided for middle school students
  • Social skills classes provided by a behavior support team, friendship and focus groups through the school social worker, Developmental Designs, Second Step, Zones of Regulation used for social emotional learning, Responsive Classroom morning meeting components
  • Focus/Explore content classes in sixth through eighth grades

MIDDLE SCHOOL:  Our middle school is specifically designed with grade-level learning teams. Each team has a teaching expert in reading, Social Studies, English Language Arts, Math, Science, English as a Second Language (ESL) and special education services. Electives include:  Music, Choir, Technology, Health and Fitness, Physical Education and Art.  The school offers girls volleyball, boys baseball, girls softball and boys and girls basketball.  Our after-school debate team, sponsored by Augsburg College, competes within and outside the school district.

EXTENDED-DAY ACTIVITIES: After-school activities in areas such as arts, computers, life skills and sports; Math Masters; evening Community Education; extracurricular sports including volleyball, flag football, boys/girls basketball, softball and baseball.
