High Five is a half-day preschool program for Minneapolis children who:
- turn four by September 1st
- will start kindergarten the following fall, AND
- live in Minneapolis
Each High Five child has an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) created by the family and the teacher designed to meet each child's stage of development and learning style. Teachers use a whole-child approach and work on language, movement, social and emotional development.
High Five programs are located throughout the city. Parents may request a specific site, but final placement decisions are based on home or daycare addresses, the availability of space and bus transportation routes. Children enrolled in High Five must submit a request for kindergarten the following year; there are no automatic kindergarten placements made from High Five.
