MAGNET FOCUS: Based on the theories and practices developed by Maria Montessori, this school uses an individualized, self-directed approach that supports students progressing at their own rate.   • Curriculum moves from concrete to abstract in all subject areas

  • Students participate in physical education one to two times per week in a state-of-the-art gym and in the Armatage Park fields adjacent to the school
  • The "Peaceful Playground" with a "KaBOOM" playground structure was funded through a grant and built by volunteers from Home Depot, Toro, City Church, parents and community members
  • Students participate in a multi-cultural and multi-media art experience including the use of a kiln and "Art Adventure"
  • The Accelerated Reader program provides immediate feedback regarding students' reading progress and goals
  • The active Armatage parent community provides support to students through tutoring programs, works as a unified and cohesive PTA and helps set school direction with representation on the site council

EXTENDED-DAY ACTIVITIES: Minneapolis Kids child care, basic skills and academic support, Spanish  language and culture, art, school musical, sports (flag football, soccer, tennis), Area Learning Center (ALC)
